The 22nd edition of Construmat will have a bioconstruction area that will exhibit the great advantages offered by building with materials such as wood, cork, straw, or through roofs and facades covered with vegetation. In this space and during the days of the show, a 100m² house will be built with a low environmental impact, healthy and energy efficient.

The use of wood as a construction material is in full expansion thanks to its excellent insulating properties, its versatility, durability and resistance, the reduction of work times it implies, but especially due to the low carbon footprint that it entails compared to other materials. At a time when the construction sector is undergoing profound changes in order to meet the requirements of the European Union to have a building stock free of emissions in the year 2050, the use of natural materials, such as wood, cork or straw, have an important role.

In this sense, the 22nd edition of Construmat focuses on sustainability and creates a new area dedicated to this material. It is its own space where, during the three days of the event, a house will be built live using prefabricated wooden structures, and other elements made of cork and straw, as well as roofs, facades and interior plants, with the aim is for professionals who visit the show to learn first-hand about some of the most innovative techniques of the moment that make it possible to build sustainable, healthy and energy-efficient homes.

The space will also give visibility to the companies that participate in this dynamic, specialized in this type of alternative and low-emission construction: Amorim Cork, Cap Problema, Cegasa, Cuadern Campanals Arquitectes, Ecococon, Egoin Wood Group, Factor Energia, Hand, Institut Provençana, Kave Home, Lzf, Xavier Mas, Max Madera, Persiana Barcelona, Roca, Roi, Saint-Gobain, Sebastia, Simon, Simpson-Strong Tie, World Wood Future and Zania.

This new area adds to the wide offer of the wood sector present in the exhibition area that includes manufacturers of cross-laminated wood and laminated structures, specialists in industrialized construction and modular systems, as well as distribution companies. Among them, names such as KLH, Simonin, Arquima, RMB, Vivre Enbois, Novaltra, Cecam, Cype, Geosec, Herms, Ibertrac, Kerakoll, Nou Bau or ITW Spain stand out.

Construmat will take place from May 23 to 25 at the Gran Via venue of Fira de Barcelona with more than 200 companies and more than 300 brands that will offer the latest materials, tools, techniques and services for sustainable building, and a congress with 40 presentations and 50 experts where the main challenges of the sector in terms of sustainability, industrialization and digitalization will be discussed.
