The Salón Internacional de la Logística 2023 (SIL 2023), leader fair in Southern Europe within the fields of logistics, transport, intralogistics and supply chain, will be celebrating its 25th anniversary from 7th to 9th June. The exhibition will host 650 companies –40% of them are international–, more than 150 worldwide exclusive developments, as well as over 250 events from different companies.

Furthermore, the enterprises participating are divided into the following professional areas: 29% corresponds to transport; 23% of them are specialized in information technology; 21% works within the intralogistics industry; 16% is focused on infrastructure; 7% corresponds to logistics real estate; and 4% belongs to talent development.

The pre-fair event –which has received the name of “Nit de la Logística” (Logistics Night) and will be presided by Felipe VI, King of Spain– will take place at Teatre Nacional de Catalunya (Barcelona) on the evening of 6th June. During the event, those professionals within the sector who have greatly contributed in making SIL the flagship fair within the Industry for 25 years at the Mediterranean and Atlantic areas will be awarded.

SIL 2023 opening event will take place at Montjuic-Plaza España’s 8th hall, located at Fira de Barcelona, on 7th June at 10 AM. Among other institutional authorities and representatives, it will be presided by Raquel Sánchez –Spanish Minister of Transport, Mobility and Urban Agenda. On Thursday 8th June at 11:45 AM, at Consorci de la Zona Franca de Barcelona’s stand (CZFB), the fair will have, as usual, a ceremony awarding the best innovations.

At Dfactory Barcelona, president of SIL Pere Navarro, said during SIL 2023 launch event before the media: “During this year’s three-journey edition, we forecast producing an economic impact of more than 40 million euros for Barcelona City and its metropolitan area”. He also added: “This year, as part of the most international edition of SIL’s history, visitors from 91 different countries will attend the fair, with the special participation of professionals from Latin America, Europe, Northern Africa, and Southeast Asia”.

Five international congresses

Another SIL’s important feature is the celebration of five large international congresses simultaneously: ALACAT’s 39th edition, as the most important congress within the Industry in Latin America; the 18th edition of CSCMP’s European Conference & European Research Seminar, the largest international organization gathering leaders in terms of supply chain; 19th MedaLogistics Week, flagship event regarding logistics and transport in the Mediterranean; EUROLOG’s 26th edition, European Logistics Association’s annual congress; as well as SIL Knowledge.

Blanca Sorigué, SIL’s General Manager, explained: “SIL is the largest international fair gathering the whole supply chain subfields, along with being an ideal space where to network. Furthermore, this year we provide an extraordinary knowledge program, gathering more than 400 speakers and offering 144 sessions divided into 6 different fields: supply chain; innovation, technology and digitalization; sustainability; logistics and transport; e-commerce, last-mille and smart mobility; and talent”.

On the other hand, logistics 4.0 will be more present than ever at SIL 2023, where more than 150 developments will be exclusively exhibited by companies like Usyncro, ecoDeliver, AENA, Seavantage, project44 or Locus Robotics, among others. In addition, more than 50 start-ups will be taking part on the event; 20 of them come from CZFB’s Logistics 4.0 Incubator. Blanca Sorigué also highlighted: “In so doing, SIL has been consolidated as a place where the main companies within the industry can show their most cutting-the-edge developments at an international event. This means that innovations will be exhibited before professionals in supply chain, which most of them are decision makers. Therefore, this ensures generating business between participants”.

Euskadi as the guest region

At this year’s exhibition, Euskadi (Autonomous Community of Basque Country) will be the guest region; apart from having their own place as a highlighted stand within the fair, the region will celebrate its central event on Wednesday 7th June at 12 PM at SIL Knowledge B stage. They will use this opportunity to show their potential within the fields of social, environmental and economical sustainability towards logistics of the future.

Another highlighted event is Job Market Place, a talent recruiting space organised in cooperation with Barcelona Activa. Its main goal is connecting companies and professionals; thus pre-arranged job interviews will be taking place on Friday 9th June morning at the fairground.

Besides, the event provides access to SIL Platform, a web app that offers the possibility of networking through sending messages between assistants. This platform –which can be accessed from any device through SIL’s website– allows requesting meetings with companies, as well as browsing through every option regarding the event.
