Facility Management is the asset management activity and, therefore, is a key discipline in city management. In this event, co-organized by the Barcelona City Council and the Catalan Association of Facility Management (ACFM) and also framed within the scope of World FM Day '22 (WFMD, World FM Day, at the initiative of Global FM), we explain the experience of the City Council in the management of its critical underground Services infrastructures (telephony, electricity, gas,...etc) at the service of the citizen. The efficient management of these infrastructures leads to efficiencies in service and costs.

We also had the opportunity to learn about a success case on Facility Management applied to cities. In this case, it is the ACEFAT company that manages the underground infrastructures of the city of Barcelona. This act could be carried out in a really interesting place such as the Water House of Trinitat Nova.

First we were able to listen to the vision of Facility Management applied to the city by Manuel Valdés López (Assistant Manager of Infrastructures and Urban Coordination. Barcelona City Council). Next, Josep Maria Miranda (Manager of ACEFAT), explained to us how it works in infrastructure management.

From here, we want to express our gratitude for the presentations as well as the support for the development of this act to:

  • AGBAR, with Sergi Biete (Area Manager South Barcelona in Aigües de Barcelona), for his presentation "Efficient and sustainable management of the city's hydraulic infrastructures";
  • Red Eléctrica, with Miquel Ramos (Northeast Transport Demarcation, Facilities Maintenance Department) for his presentation “Highways of light in the city”;
  • Endesa, with Marcos Lalueza Lanau (Head of Barcelona Territorial Unit, Catalonia Area).

We attach below the presentations and the video produced from this event.

Thank you all and may this be a first step to divulge all these interesting topics.
