This year, Smart City Expo World Congress (SCEWC) will take place from the 16th to the 18th November 2021 in Barcelona, with a powerful hybrid edition to mark its 10th anniversary.
Back in 2011, when the event started, SCEWC aimed at sharing the knowledge and the latest urban innovations, so that we could inspire and build smart and sustainable cities for citizens worldwide, where they felt empowered and listened to.
Since then, we've grown older, and hopefully wiser. We’ve gone through one of the worst health and social crisis of the century. Cities have too. With 55% of the population living in urban areas and climate emergency declarations issued by hundreds of councils and jurisdictions worldwide, cities need to lead the way in reducing their impact in the ecosystems they depend on, while maximizing nature’s value, bridging the multidimensional inequality gap and supporting a gas-free future, to cite just a few pressing issues. For, in the end, we are what we make, and so are cities. We build cities, but cities build us too: We are the cities we make.
The 2021 edition is so special for the Smart City Expo World Congress, as along these years it has turned into much more than a three-day event. It has created and nurtured an international innovation community that’s fueling leading-edge technologies to upgrade cities worldwide; SCEWC has connected solution-seekers and solution-providers to transform key sectors such as mobility or infrastructures and has fostered partnerships, accelerated change and collectivized knowledge. But the best is yet to come.
Smart City Expo World Congress 2021 will take place in Barcelona, bringing back the thrill of face-to-face business, and it will provide a parallel digital experience to enrich the conversation and reach a wider audience. In addition, it will be co-located with two brand new events:
- Tomorrow.Mobility World Congress, the ultimate international platform to accelerate sustainable and intelligent urban mobility,
- and PUZZLE X, which will enable materials of the future to help our world today.
These three events support each other and reinforce the smart city ecosystem.
