The MNAC and the ACFM have organized, coinciding with the World Facility Management Day '22, a visit to the National Art Museum of Catalonia (MNAC) to be able to observe, first-hand, the challenges faced by a Facility Manager in such a peculiar environment in which technology and art coexist in addition to a high density of visitors and different cultural activities.

The National Art Museum of Catalonia is located in the National Palace of Montjuïc. In 1934 it opened its doors as the Art Museum of Catalonia, bringing together the medieval collection. Later, in 1995, as the National Art Museum of Catalonia (MNAC), the new rooms of Romanesque art were inaugurated and, successively, the public exhibition of the collections was expanded, a process that culminates in 2004 with the new presentation of modern art.

The National Palace, built for the International Exhibition of 1929, is the headquarters of the National Museum of Art of Catalonia. The National Palace, which almost reaches 50,000 m2, is a large building that is ascribed to the models of academic classicism of the time within the scope of universal exhibitions. Its façade is crowned by a large dome, inspired by that of St. Peter's in the Vatican, two smaller ones on each side, and four towers inspired by the cathedral of Santiago de Compostela. It is located on the Montjuïc mountain, a privileged environment from which you can enjoy a magnificent and unique view of Barcelona. The front access to the National Palace is through a grand staircase from Avenida de la Reina María Cristina, flanked halfway by the large luminous and monumental fountains by Carles Buïgas.

The ACFM has chosen this place to celebrate the next event on Facility Management, coinciding with World Facility Management Day '22. This act will be complemented with a visit to the museum facilities. As you know, the museum is subject to renovations and renovations. Being showrooms, the latest technological innovations are applied in the renovations. All this (we think) makes a visit to its facilities very interesting.
